Drainage Solutions
Keep water where it belongs
Water is the number-one enemy of a Maine property. Wet basements, eroding slopes, soggy lawns, frost-heaved driveways, and failing foundations almost always trace back to drainage. Taylor Earthworks diagnoses where the water is coming from and builds the system to move it away — for good.
We install French drains, curtain drains, foundation perimeter drains, culverts, catch basins, dry wells, and regraded swales. The right solution depends on grade, soil, and the source of the water, so we start by understanding the problem rather than throwing pipe at it.
Done correctly, drainage is permanent peace of mind: a dry basement, a stable driveway, and slopes that hold through every spring thaw. We build to last and we clean up behind ourselves.
How we approach it
Diagnose
Walk the site to find the water's source, path, and the low points it pools in.
Design the path
Set a drainage route and outlet using grade, soil, and the source.
Install
Trench, bed, pipe, and stone the system, wrapped and graded to flow.
Restore
Backfill, regrade, and finish so the fix blends into the landscape.
Drainage Solutions questions
What causes drainage issues on Maine properties?
Most drainage problems come from a combination of poor grading (water flowing toward the home), heavy clay or compacted soils that don't absorb water, high seasonal water tables, blocked or missing culverts, and downspouts that dump at the foundation. Maine's freeze-thaw cycle makes all of it worse.
How much does a French drain cost in Maine?
French drains typically run $25 to $60 per linear foot installed, depending on depth, access, and whether ledge or landscaping is involved. A full foundation perimeter drain is a larger project. We quote each job after seeing the site.
Will a drainage system fix my wet basement?
Usually, yes — most wet basements are a drainage and grading problem. We address the exterior grade, foundation drainage, and downspout routing, and can coordinate interior solutions where needed.
